Welcome to the Chilliwack Airport (CYCW)

The Chilliwack Airport (CYCW) figures prominently in BC aviation history and is well known to aviators as one of the most attractive airports in the province. CYCW is the last stop before Hope and the interior for air traffic heading east, and a waypoint for traffic heading west to the coast and the island.

CYCW's central location provides numerous advantages, as it is within close proximity of the Trans Canada Highway, the city's growing education district (Canada Education Park), industrial and commercial areas, infrastructure, amenities and attractions.

The Chilliwack Airport is quaint, friendly and easily accessible for student training, and pilots looking for a recreational day flight. CYCW encompasses 130 acres and boasts a terminal building designed to accommodate aircraft with up to 19 passengers. In fact, Pacific Coastal Airlines and Conair can often be seen performing touch and go's in a Beech 1900.

Airside facilities include a 3,990 ft. (1,219 meters) paved and lit runway and parallel taxiway. CYCW offers an expansive host of services: full maintenance facilities for fixed wing and rotary wing; a paint shop that can accommodate up to a 30-passenger aircraft; interior refurbishment; structural repair; parts and AC sales; a 24-hour fueling station with full fuel services for both 100LL and JetA fuel; full avionics services; flight training; and availability of on-field and t-hangar storage options. Three helicopter companies offer services including sightseeing, charter, heli-logging and crop-dusting. Chilliwack Airport also boasts a large home-built aircraft community.

The Chilliwack Airport is home to approximately 20 aviation- and aerospace-focused businesses and 75 private and commercial aircraft, which include fixed wing and helicopters. The development of the Chilliwack Aviation Park, located at the west end of the runway, will provide site location opportunities for businesses seeking to relocate or expand and recreational users searching for aircraft storage options. With rental rates at Lower Mainland airports steadily increasing, and a lack of available facility space, Chilliwack is becoming a more viable location option for the aviation and aerospace industry.

Ken Smith, Chair of the Chilliwack Aviation and Aerospace Planning Committee, states, "As the community continues to grow, and people want to head out of the more congested areas of the Lower Mainland, Chilliwack Airport is going to play a more significant role in the lcoal Aviation and Aerospace industry."
